How to Hand Wash Your Knits

This video will show you how to hand wash your knits.

Supplies:

  • Wool wash (we love and use Soak - available here https://soakwash.ca/collections/laundry-soap - but you can use whatever you can find)

  • A clean bucket, basin, or sink

  • Two or three big towels

  • Blocking mats or kids play mats

  • A table, bed, or a few square feet of floor space

I know that hand washing is a barrier to entry when it comes to knits. I avoided it for years before I finally ripped the bandaid off and figured out that it’s not that bad, and wished I’d bit the bullet sooner!

Some important things to remember are: (1) wool naturally resists soiling so you don’t have to do this very often (honestly, every 6-12 months is probably plenty for a frequently worn item); (2) this literally takes 20 minutes, 15 of which you can be doing something else; and (3) maybe it’s good to slow down and appreciate the lovely clothing items that keep you warm, comfortable, and stylin’.

So don’t be afraid, you can do this! And if you have questions or need help, PLEASE feel free to reach out to us on the contact page and we are so happy to help.
