The 0-6 months Pinto Beanie fits a head size from 13-17” (33 - 43 cm). and the 6 months - 3 year Pinto Beanie fits a head size from 16-20” (41 -51 cm) . The Small Adult sized Pinto Beanie fits a head anywhere from 19.5” to 22”, the Adult Large fits a head anywhere from 23-25”. The Small Adult should pretty much fit most children over 4 and women. The Large Adult Pinto Beanie should generally fit most men.
Kid’s have alarmingly big heads so there’s a good chance you can put an adult Pinto Beanie on a 4 year old and just share one for the household - but measure if you want a precise fit! They will also start out a bit snug and soften up with wear.
A handknit cable vest made from 100% Peruvian highland wool, designed for warmth, comfort, and longevity. Incredibly soft, durable and easy to care for (wipe clean, air out, limit washing), it’s meant to make your little ones feel as great as it looks.
Knit slowly by hand, the result is a dense, sculptural fabric with natural variation in tension and texture. The wool is breathable and insulating, making it suitable for layering across seasons.
The cable pattern is intentionally bold but balanced, giving the vest a sense of weight without bulk. The fit is slightly relaxed to allow for growth and layering over shirts or light knits.
Materials: 100% Peruvian highland wool
Care: Hand wash cold, lay flat to dry
Fit: Relaxed youth sizing
Made to be worn often, and kept.
Measurements:
Chest circumference: 18” / 46 cm
Length: 9.5” / 24 cm
Care Instructions
Each Eat Your Fiber knit is handmade with love from materials that are carefully chosen for qualities such as durability, hand feel, and environmental impact. In exchange for the amazing look and feel of these fabrics, some special care is required. If you want your knit to survive to clothe generations of children, or be eligble for the Eat Your Fiber Upcycle Program, please follow the instructions below!
Hand Wash
Wool has lanolin in it, which naturally keeps it clean. This means that it does not soil as quickly as other fabrics, so you can go for long periods of time (months!!) between washes, even if you wear the item frequently. Simply spot clean with a damp cloth as needed between washes.
This is a hand wash only item, and NEVER put it in the dryer. To hand wash your knit, fill a clean sink or basin with lukewarm water and, using a wool detergent such as Soak, gently submerge and massage the item, then rinse (unless using a no rinse soap), and lay flat to dry in shape. Check out the video at eatyourfiber.ca or @eat.your.fiber for more details on hand washing.
Pilling
Pilling is natural for woolen items, especially when new. The Pinto Sweater in particular may get quite fluffy, but don’t worry, the pilling will reduce over time. Use a wool fabric comb if you wish to remove or reduce pills, but never pull them off.
Storage
Air your knits out after use and store folded (not hung) between wears. Freshen them by hanging in the bathroom during a hot shower or outside in the morning.

Notes:
The Fava Bonnet is a quick and easy project worked flat and seamed up using a three needle bind off (to learn the three needle bind off, I suggest googling "knitting three needle bind off" and you should find lots of helpful videos). It starts at the front edge ribbing, then the main head piece is knit in stockinette, and a garter stitch edge and ties are cast on and picked up at the end.
