Notes
The Pinto Sweater is a raglan sweater knit in one piece from the top down, with the neck band picked up and knit from the cast on edge for added strength at the neckline.

Notes:
The Vitelotte Vest is worked flat from the bottom up, divided at the underarm and then worked separately across the front and back panels and seamed up at the shoulder using a three needle bind off. The button plackets are worked simultaneously in garter stitch ridges, and the neck is picked up and knit as the last step. The shoulders are shaped with German short rows and the arm hole openings are finished by working a simple selvedge. The pattern is designed to have approximately 2-4" of ease. It's an excellent challenge of a project without being a huge undertaking, as you must keep track of the cable pattern and placket ribbing while working a variety of different stitches. The result is a showstopper and incredibly cozy and practical!

The Vitelotte Toque is worked in the round from the brim up. It begins with an Italian tubular cast-on and a few rounds of double knitting, which give a fully reversible, stretchy edge before the brim settles into a single-layer 1×1 rib. The crown is then divided into four sections with markers and decreased in quarters, moving to a faster decrease rate over the last few rounds so the top rounds off neatly.
Sizing: Size small makes a cute little beanie that fits an average child or adult head snugly (pictured in grey), the large size (pictured in mauve) is more rounded and great for wearing over the Vitelotte Balaclava or simply for a larger, more relaxed fit. The medium creates the same effect of the small size on a larger head circumference. Sizing has approximately 2.5" of negative ease but use the photos as a reference.

Finished width is measured flat across the balaclava; the circumference is roughly twice this, and the fabric stretches comfortably beyond it. Finished length is measured from the crown to the bottom of the neck edging along the back seam, and is simply the body length plus the neck ribbing.
Yarn:
55 (75, 95, 110) g of Cascade Eco+ (Bulky) at 478 yd / 437 m per 250 g skein — one skein covers any single size. If you are substituting, you will need approximately 105 (143, 182, 210) yd / 96 (131, 166, 192) m.
A note on the yarn: Cascade Eco+ is labelled bulky, but it sits at the light end of that category and behaves much like an aran — which is why the gauge here is firmer than a bulky ballband would usually suggest. If you are substituting, a heavy aran or a light bulky will get you to this gauge most easily. Always swatch and block your swatch before you commit (or at least check before you go too far!!)
Notions: Stitch marker, spare needle for the three needle bind off, tapestry needle.
Pattern Notes
This cosy balaclava begins flat, then is finished in the round. In the spirit of fun, it has a gentle peak at the back of the head. For extra fun and warmth, use your leftover yarn to work up the Vitelotte Toque (size L) and wear them together <3. The main body is a plain stockinette rectangle. It is folded and joined with a three needle bind off to close the back of the head, and the neck and front face opening are then picked up and worked in the round.
Both the neck and the front edge finish with two rounds of double knitting worked into a stretchy Italian (tubular) bind off, which gives a fully reversible, non-curling edge with plenty of give — important on a garment that has to pull over a head and sit against the face.
Gauge is taken in stockinette after blocking. Swatch and block before casting on, since gauge determines both the fit and the yardage.

These simple, warm mittens are a perfect everyday pair for a cold climate – especially with the nice long cuff which can be worn flat or folded. They are worked in the round from the cuff up. The cuff starts with an Italian tubular cast on and a few rounds of double knitting, which roll into 1×1 rib and give a fully reversible, non-curling edge.
Every size except Baby uses a gusset thumb, increased on either side of a marked stitch and then held on waste yarn while the hand is finished. The Baby size is thumbless.
