Needles: 3.25 mm (US 3) DPNs — cuff. 4 mm (US 6) DPNs — hand and thumb.

Gauge: 22 sts and 31 rows = 10 cm / 4″ in stockinette on 4 mm / US 6 needles, after blocking.

Construction: Worked in the round, cuff up. The cuff begins with an Italian tubular cast on and a few rounds of double knitting, then 1×1 rib. All sizes except Baby have a gusset thumb held on waste yarn; Baby is thumbless.

These simple, warm mittens are a perfect everyday pair for a cold climate – especially with the nice long cuff which can be worn flat or folded. They are worked in the round from the cuff up. The cuff starts with an Italian tubular cast on and a few rounds of double knitting, which roll into 1×1 rib and give a fully reversible, non-curling edge.

Every size except Baby uses a gusset thumb, increased on either side of a marked stitch and then held on waste yarn while the hand is finished. The Baby size is thumbless.
